ASD commence work in the UK’s largest bus service workshop
During December 2008, ASD commenced work on site at Transport for London’s new state of the art service workshop facility in West Ham. Transport for London formerly had workshops in East London and ASD has recently assisted with the relocation to temporary facilities while the new workshop is built. The building is a step forward in environmental design with a grass roof to capture and recycle water together with a wind turbine and a biomass generator.
The bus workshop is believed to be the largest in the UK with 22 service pits and ASD has been extensively involved in the design process, liaising with architects, project managers and other trades. Each pit has compressed air and lubrication services together with exhaust extraction systems all fitted by several of ASD’s experienced installations teams. Time has been saved on the project by installing large quantities of pipework prior to the installation of the pit structures; this was achieved by detailed co-ordination and design consultation with the structural engineers. The result is that the project has saved several weeks on the programmed completion date.
ASD achieves SafeContractor accreditation
ASD are proud to announce it has been accredited to the Safecontractor scheme as an approved contractor. This is a unique achievement in the garage equipment industry and will place ASD at the forefront amongst it’s competitors for health and safety. Safecontractor is an accreditation scheme that assesses the health & safety competency of contractors and service providers. Clients have a legal obligation to ensure that external contractors and service providers working on their premises operate in a safe way.
